Principal Message

“The purpose of education is to replace an empty mind with an open one” – Malcolm S Forbes

As The Principal of Saint George’s Training College of Nursing, I consider myself fortunate to be a part of this educational institution where every contributor is a learner and every day is an opportunity to discover, create and innovate. I am immensely honoured and feel very privileged to function as the Principal. We always stand poised on the threshold of change in the world of education as it is very important for us to adjust the sails to face the winds of change.

Today, the nursing students should be well equipped with knowledge, confidence and competence to attain a sense of fulfilment and understanding. A person who didn’t studied hard cannot solve his problem in future. The nursing profession is one of the highly demandable position both nationally and globally with a stability in salaries too.

I am glad that in my institute all educators create a safe, stimulating and learning environment for all our nursing fraternity and as I believe in team work and building a positive culture shows care for each other. We maintained positive classrooms environment among nursing students and faculties members which makes it a safe and pleasant place for students to learn to the upmost and this sense of security helps students to be more confident and also leads them to respect each other.

When it comes to the educational standards Mumbai is a best home for colleges, universities and Research Institutions.
“Growth starts with a seed of knowledge.” – Unknown

The nursing curriculum is the one which meet the societal needs by sowing seeds of knowledge among the nursing students. Hence, we work to provide nursing students with differentiated support that address each student’s specific needs both academically and socially. Nursing, according to me, is a unique profession which has a blend of Cognitive, Psychomotor and affective domain. Nursing education empowers one to lift oneself from darkness to light.

My sincere gratitude to trustworthy management of Saint George’s Hospital and Faculty Member for showing faith in my potential and encouraging and guiding me always. The success of any educational institution is determined by the impact it creates on the young minds because they are the ones who are going to be the pioneers of every ‘new-generation’. Being committed to growth and seeing how it makes the world better is one of the greatest joys in life.

I wish you to assure all my beloved students, parents and guardian that with the help of the all and God’s blessings, I will do everything possible to elevate the standard of this ancient and prestigious institution to greater heights.

The Institute offers a 3 year Diploma Program in registered nursing and Midwifery, since 1951 till date. Saint George’s Hospital, Training College of Nursing, Mumbai is the oldest Nursing institution in the country which started its journey in the year 1938. It belongs to Saint George’s Hospital, which is our parent hospital, which begins at the close of the 17th Century after the death of Sir George Oxendon, the first Governor of Mumbai in July 1669.

Currently, we have GNM three years diploma programme in nursing being offered at college which is recognised by Indian Nursing Council (INC) and Maharashtra Nursing Council (MNC). Over the last more than a century, Saint George’s Hospital, has succeeded in producing the finest nurses in the country. Many of them are employed in our hospital, college and in various parts of the country as well as abroad. The students are provided with rich clinical experience in the parent as well as affiliated hospital and also public health training at Community Health Department at Khadavali Dist. Thane, Maharashtra. College life for our students is a blend of academics and extracurricular activities for an all-round development of their personality.

I am grateful to our Dean Dr. Ajay Bhandarwar and Superintendent Dr. Vinayak Sawardekar for their dynamic and visionary leadership, for all the logistical & supportive activities for the growth of our college and taking this college to greater heights. The College faculty along with senior nursing staff assistance work as team to provide the best possible training to our students. I endeavour to take this legacy forward and continue in our quest in maintaining the standards of nursing education & training. Nursing in itself is a vocation per se and I laud my students for taking up this challenging yet satisfying career in this century old institution!
