Nursing students visited to the Acworth Municipal Hospital for Leprosy and the Acworth Leprosy Museum in Wadala, Mumbai, as part of their training to gain first-hand knowledge of leprosy’s medical and social impacts.
Purposes of the visit are
- Sensitize students to the challenges and social stigma faced by leprosy patients.
- Provide real-world exposure to the diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation processes.
- Enhance communication skills and promote a patient- centered, compassionate approach to nursing care.
Educate future healthcare professionals about the history of the disease, current treatment scenarios, and the goal of achieving “Zero Transmission, Zero Disability and Zero Stigma and Discrimination”.
